Martha Hamblin’s award-winning photographs
bring the joy of discovery
to nature’s often
unnoticed details. Her
images portray a unique
ability to work with light
and shadow to highlight
dimension, texture and
wholeness in her photographic
subjects.
Hamblin’s
work invites viewers to
see and appreciate nature
as it is. Using available
light in natural settings,
she illustrates the inherent
form and spirit of subjects.
Whether depicting person,
plant, animal, place or
object, her images illuminate
and celebrate the subject’s
inner essence.
Hamblin
creates images digitally
and with color and black
and white film. For her
hand-colored images, she
specializes in the traditional
process using photo oils
and pencils on silver
gelatin prints.
Hamblin’s
commercial work includes
nature and wildlife, landscape,
travel, editorial, and
sports photography, as
well as portraiture. Her
work has been published
in books, commercial catalogs,
calendars and magazines.
Many of her photographs
are held in private collections
across the United States,
Canada, England, Ireland,
Spain and Mexico.
Her
photographs have been
exhibited in solo and
juried shows including
the Merry Moor Winnett
Photography Triennial,
Green Hill Center for
NC Art and The Women’s
Center Annual Through
Women’s Eyes, By
Women’s Hands, Chapel
Hill, NC. She has received
numerous international,
national and regional
art and photography awards.
