ABOUT THE ARTIST

Artists James and Carolyn Teague reside in Burlington, North Carolina. Both have been painting for the majority of their lives. Each has developed, individually, their own personal recognizable, realistic, impressionistic style of painting. Both Carolyn and James have experimented with the different mediums of oil, acrylic, and watercolor and each has made watercolor their primary choice when it comes to fine art. The majority of James’ art reflects his love of the land, sea and animals that inhabit both. He is recognized most for his tranquil landscapes and seascapes, which give rise to fond memories from those that view his work. Carolyn adapts her style of painting to watercolor, oil and acrylics. Her favorite subjects are flowers, many of which she grows in her own flowerbeds. In addition to flowers she enjoys painting still life arrangements as she pays close attention to light and form. In addition to fine art you will find her art adorning a variety of objects and surfaces as she allows her creative abilities to flow. The husband and wife team were both charter members of the Burlington Artists League in 1972. Through the years they have served in numerous leadership positions in the organization. As charter members James was President and Carolyn was Secretary. Having served in these positions as well as others through the years, they again served respectively as president and secretary for the 2007-2008 year. Both have taught art classes privately and through organizations. Since they have retired: James from teaching drafting in the Alamance Burlington School System and Carolyn from the Social Security Administration, they have worked to expand in the art community. They are members of the Alamance County Arts Council, The Alamance Artisans Guild and The Burlington Artists League and Gallery. As they journey together in life and art they enjoy travel and photographing subjects that they see as potential painting subjects.
